The two
recent Lymphedema Conferences have been a big success, and were attended by numerous
attendees. The audience was made up of health professionals and patients alike.
The
conferences were organized and presented by the Galician Lymphedema
Association (AGL), and by Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Specialists Dr. Monica Romo Monje, of the Meixoeiro Hospital
Lymphedema Service (Vigo-Pontevedra), and Dr. Rosa Martín Mourelle of the Oza Coastal Hospital
Lymphedema Service (A Coruña).
The
conference agendas also featured key speakers Gustavo Paseiro Ares, Professor of the Univesity of A Coruña, and Carlos Manero García, head of the
Spanish Leduc School of Physiotherapy, as leading authorities on treatment for lymphatic
disorders.
It was a new inspirational
event focused towards establishing bonds between professional and lymphedema
patients. This was also a chance to hear lectures by Manuela López de Vicuña, the
representative from the sponsoring company Medi Bayreuth España,
with a display of new and advanced products for the treatment of Lymphedema.
There was also technical support, by the Galician Confederation of People with Disabilities (COGAMI) represented by Social Worker María Araújo Rey. The cycle of conferences were well-received, and speakers and participants all alike, are looking
forward to new future events.
