June is lipedema awareness month. Lipedema was recognized as a disease by the World Health Organization (WHO) on May 8, 2018 and included in the ICD- 11 (International Classification of Diseases) catalog under code EF02.2 “Non-inflammatory alterations of subcutaneous fat”.

Many people affected in Spain are not diagnosed or are diagnosed late; there is a lot of misinformation about the disease; waiting lists to get an early and adequate diagnosis are eternalized; in addition there are added the difficulties to access conservative and surgical treatments and compression garments in our public health.
AGL has organized several activities this month, and the Spanish Federation of Lymphedema and Lipedema Associations (FEDEAL), an entity belonging to COCEMFE, is launching a series of videos to make visible the situation experienced by patients in Spain.
