June is Lipedema Awareness Month, which gives us the chance to raise awareness and make lipedema a global priority. Lipedema is a progressive painful chronic disease of fat tissue that affects more than 11% of women worldwide, and is characterized by bilateral symmetrical swelling of the legs, thighs, and hips, and is disproportionate to the rest of the body.
Clinicians and patients commonly confuse Lipedema with general obesity or lymphedema. Read more information about Lipedema symptoms and treatment HERE.
